K'Gari is the largest sand island in the world and earned Heritage Listing in December 1992. It is a place of remarkable beauty with the long white beaches and coloured sand cliffs. The island also has beautiful sand dunes, ancient rainforests which grow in sand along the creeks and over 100 freshwater lakes including some surrounded by white sandy beaches.
K'Gari is about 120 kilometres long and varies between 5 and 25 kilometres wide. It is home to over 300 species of fauna includiing birds, dingoes, frogs, echidnas, lizards, snakes, sugar gliders, possums and many other animals.
K'Gari is also famous for its 75 mile beach which is perfect for fishing.
